Lary Cottage

Come over the hills to the famous Braemar Gathering held every year on the first Saturday of September at The Princess Royal and the Duke of Fife’s Memorial Park, Braemar. Very convenient for Lary Cottage being only 20 mins drive from Ballater.

While there have been gatherings of one sort or another at Braemar since the days of King Malcolm Canmore, nine hundred years ago, the Gathering as we know it has been organised formally since 1832. But during much of that time large crowds haave come each year to acclaim their Monarch as Chieftain of the Braemar Gathering. Every Gathering is a memorable occasion with international athletes among those taking part in the heavy and track events. Pipers and dancers are of a very high standard and Scottish pipe bands are always to the fore.

The Gathering is famous for its friendship and hospitality and is always attended by the Royal Family staying at close by Balmoral Castle.
